Class of 2020 players going on unofficial visits to Marquette doesn’t really qualify as news, at least not worthy of an article on this website, and that goes double for guys who play for Sun Prairie, just a short car trip from Milwaukee. It’s so simple for guys like that to stop on by the Al McGuire Center, almost on a moment’s notice.
However, Class of 2020 small forward Jalen Johnson’s unofficial visit on Tuesday became noteworthy when MU head coach Steve Wojciechowski offered him a scholarship.
At 6’6” and 160 pounds at the end of his freshman campaign, Johnson projects as a small forward at the collegiate level. However, it seems that he may be capable of playing point guard as well. Don’t take my word for it, that’s what I found on his Wisconsin Sports Network page when tracking doen the fact that he averaged 14.9 points per game for Sun Prairie as a freshman.
A lot can happen between now and the fall of 2020, of course. Only the 2017-18 incoming freshmen and Brendan Bailey are expected to still be on the team at that point if Johnson decides to enroll at Marquette.
